为提高精拉刀的使用寿命,保证其轮廓的正确性,设计时拉刀轮廓取轮槽轮廓的尺寸,这样拉刀实体处于轮槽轮廓的尺寸。在全齿型精切削时,拉力突然增大,拉刀容易产生振动,产生崩齿或拉刀折断情形,不仅工件毁损,而且会造成拉刀的损失,为避免这种情况的发生,设计精拉刀时要计算出全齿型切削时的齿数,将这些齿的齿根、齿底开分屑槽,才能保证有效地断屑。拉刀的修锐研磨拉刀在使用时会逐渐的磨损,当拉刀磨损到一定情况时会影响后加工的度和整组拉刀的寿命,所以当加工中出现异常情况,如表面质量突然下降或拉刀振动增大时必须将拉刀置在刀具磨床上重新磨锐,一般磨锐的拉刀仅限于粗拉刀齿的部位,研磨的位置也仅限于后斜角的那一面,研磨拉刀大多使用CBN砂轮或钻石砂轮,一次研磨一个齿,并应注意校正齿距,避免过多地研磨,刀刃磨过后,每把拉刀必须进行探伤、消磁、才能再次使用。

不锈钢制品以其精外表、优良的抗腐蚀性、抗高温氧化性及高低温强度,而愈来愈广泛地用于很多行业。由于这类产品外观质量要求较高,在产品的整个加工过程中,要保证高光亮度的产品表面不划伤和擦伤难度确实很大,特别是由于不锈钢薄板拉深特性所带来的模具选材、热处理、加工及工艺润滑等问题直接影响到产品质量、产量、成本及模具寿命。模具工作部分材料选择,针对皱纹问题,经过实践证明:选用铸铝青铜、硬铝青铜防粘效果较好;采用碳化钨钢结硬质合金制造凹模比用Cr12Mov软氮化制造凹模寿命提高数倍,且不粘模;如果采用代号354合金铸铁,只需在模具表面进行火焰淬火,模具表面不会出现皱纹。
